Manik Harum is a community gamelan in Missoula, Montana welcoming all who wish to dedicate themselves to practice regularly, play and perform Balinese gamelan angklung music. Group members are all ages and include trained musicians, music teachers, and and those new to musical performance. Note that playing gamelan music requires sitting on the floor for extended periods of time. There are no dues or class fees; members contribute occasionally towards the cost of workshops and other miscellaneous expenses. Practice meetings are Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:30 PM. There is often a summer break mid June – mid August. New members typically come into the group twice a year: September and January. If you wish to become a member or request a performance please contact Dorothy Morrison (morrisondorothy at yahoo.com).
